You spend $200/month on tools you don't use, but your real bottleneck isn't the tool. It's the infrastructure around it. A tool is what you click. Infrastructure is how everything connects so you don't have to click at all. Most creators confuse these, and it's why they stay stuck.
A tool is tactical. It solves one problem right now. You use Zapier to send email to Slack. That's the tool. Infrastructure is strategic. It's the thinking that says: "When someone books a call, we should automatically create a calendar event, send a reminder email, and add them to the email list." The infrastructure is the design; the tools are just the builders.
Here's the trap most solopreneurs fall into: they spend months learning tools. Mastering Zapier, Make, Google Sheets formulas, whatever. But they never step back and design the infrastructure. So they have fancy tactical solutions sitting on top of a chaotic system. A perfectly built automation inside a broken process saves nothing.
Infrastructure means you design once, then tools support that design. You decide: "My audience needs email, but I also need to know where they came from and what they're interested in." That's infrastructure. Then you pick tools that fit that design. Beehiiv for email, Zapier to capture the data, a database to organize it. The tools service the structure.
Start with infrastructure. Ask: What does my ideal workflow look like if I remove all constraints? How should information flow? Where are the decision points? Once you know that, the tools become obvious and replaceable. If Zapier dies tomorrow, you rebuild it in Make. The infrastructure stays.
One practical step this week: • Draw out your ideal workflow on paper. Don't think about tools yet. Just: where does information start? Where does it go? What happens at each stop? That's your infrastructure.

PROMPTS OF THE WEEK
Use these to design your infrastructure.
1. Workflow Mapper
I want to design the ideal workflow for [content/sales/service delivery].
I have zero tool constraints right now.
Tell me:
- Where does this process start? (what triggers it?)
- What are the 5-7 steps that need to happen?
- At each step, what's the decision point?
- Where does data need to live?
- Where are the bottlenecks today?
Now tell me what I'm missing or what's hard to automate.
2. Tool Audit
Here are my current tools: [LIST THEM]
My infrastructure goals are: [DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL FLOW]
Tell me:
- Which tools support my infrastructure?
- Which tools are redundant?
- What infrastructure gaps do I have?
- What should I replace or cut?
- What's one tool that could replace 3 others?
3. Process Design Brief
I'm stuck. I have [problem].
I'm using tools [LIST TOOLS].
But the real issue is probably infrastructure.
Help me:
- Redesign this process from scratch
- What's the minimal viable workflow?
- What's the minimum tooling I actually need?
- What's just noise?
- Draw it out in simple steps
